What I want all our clients to know about auto insurance in 2024
At Ullrich Insurance, we specialize in providing families the insurance protection that they need so that they can live their lives and not just survive…but thrive! When something bad happens, instead of losing all the money that you have ever worked hard to save, insurance comes in and saves the day. Insurance is what allows us to build our finances for ourselves and our posterity!
I give my personal cell phone to our clients and I make myself available for emergencies 24/7. You would be shocked to find out the situations that our clients come across on an almost daily basis. I see first hand how insurance saves the day for families time and time again.
The key is to have a good insurance policy that is set up correctly and that has the coverages and endorsements that you need. This is where the insurance agent comes in.
Here are some lessons that I want every auto insurance client to know:
Liability is the most important thing:
-If there is an accident, if someone is injured, it is going to be VERY EXPENSIVE.
-Hospital bills are more expensive than ever. The cost of an ambulance to come pick you up is more expensive than ever. Our society has become very sue-happy and very eager to blame others for things. There are lawyers on every other TV commercial and billboard around town.
-Colorado is an at-fault state. That means that if there is an auto accident, whoever is deemed at fault is responsible to pay all the damages.
-Have you ever heard “you can’t squeeze blood out of a turnip?” Well I have a new saying, “You can’t squeeze blood out of a turnip but they can try to garnish your wages.” Even if you don’t have assets to protect, your wages can still be garnished and you can have major legal problems if you cause an auto accident and don’t have enough liability coverage to pay for the damages.
-Long story short, if you cause an accident and if you don’t have enough liability coverage to pay for the damages, you can be in big trouble. Because of this, we recommend a high limit of liability coverage and also an umbrella policy for every client.

Other people who live in your home who have a drivers license but who aren’t listed as drivers
-When you let someone drive your car, your auto insurance policy pays for them if they cause an accident, right? Not so fast. Many companies have a new rule that says that if someone drives your car and causes an accident, if they have a drivers license and live in your home and are not listed as a driver on your policy, then they will no be covered by your insurance. Be careful of this
