Jared’s thoughts about lawn aeration
As I write this blog post, it is April 2021.
Money is a part of life. Everybody has their own relationship with it. Whether we like it or not, we live in a world where money has an impact on us. Unless we have an inheritance of a gazillion dollars, we can’t get away from the need of money in this life.
If a parent says “Oh, I don’t care about earning money,” they might be okay in the short run, but in the future, if they get to the point where they are in extreme financial distress, they will be forced to care about money.
I know that a lot of people suffer worrying about it…. Money can be a hard thing!
In life, there are certain things that we can do to put ourselves in a better position. One thing that we can do is work really hard and work smart so that we are in a position to earn more money…or enough money that we need.
When I was in high school, I went door to door and gathered lists of people who would want their lawn aerated in the Spring and mowed in the summer. If you knock on enough doors before the grass starts to grow, you can find a lot of people who want your services!
Every Spring during high school, I would aerate as many lawns as possible. My senior year, I was on the track team and I almost missed the team pictures because I was aerating lawns. I love the picture because I had a crazy farmers tan from the cut off shirt that I would wear when I aerated lawns.
I continued to aerate lawns through college and after college. It is a great business!
I had a system of gathering a lot of lawns and of taking very good care of the people. I would go back to them year after year. It was great!
When I joined my dad in the insurance agency, I eventually had to say no when people would call me. I was too busy helping my clients and working with my dad.
I built some great memories doing lawn aeration. I worked with my friends and my brother and even my sister sometimes. It was just great fun!
In the Denver Metro area at least, it seems like everybody wants to aerate their lawn in the Spring. I took advantage of this and tried to aerate as many lawns as possible!
If you want to learn my tricks, or if you have someone who wants to learn, I would love to tell you exactly how I did it so that you can do it too. The process is simple….it just takes a lot of work. If I could do it, anyone can do it!
Here is an old video that I made 12 years ago. Wow, I was handsome back then!
